I am focusing my blogging on Kate/baby related topics.<br />
Follow me over at <a href="http://babystybs.blogspot.com/">babystybs.blogspot.com</a>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08009479798438832474noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3372833626238324510.post-88240863698803865092012-11-26T20:03:00.000-05:002012-11-26T20:03:15.212-05:00This is the end...I've been toying with the idea for awhile and, well, my hearts just not in blogging. The idea to stop was confirmed when I tried to upload some pictures for a post and was told that I had reached my 1G space limit. Sure I could pay $2.99 for more space, but why? I'm not a dedicated blogger with tons of followers/ ads/ revenue...<br />
And honestly, I'd rather send my time with Kate, keeping the house clean, and trying to be a better teacher.<br />
<br />
With that I say goodbye.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08009479798438832474noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3372833626238324510.post-80917558857628770432012-11-23T11:59:00.001-05:002012-11-23T11:59:48.963-05:00Playroom ArtI shared <a href="http://lifeofa20somethingwife.blogspot.com/2012/11/kates-playroom.html" target="_blank">Kate's playroom</a>, but what you didn't see was the vast blank walls surrounding it.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhrWZLiYC0OHrYFlPzUgUjh3oHN5Pn4AnNtYq-_rOazPoBJf3aRNh2sp-7UFS9XqnICWNjH1pjMst0wfO8Hc5KOUAe0mJz_bBM5VK7XX6dbXFvXi7mZhgUWl8Lnn9vjpH7VdgfMKND1IfE/s1600/IMG_4611.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhrWZLiYC0OHrYFlPzUgUjh3oHN5Pn4AnNtYq-_rOazPoBJf3aRNh2sp-7UFS9XqnICWNjH1pjMst0wfO8Hc5KOUAe0mJz_bBM5VK7XX6dbXFvXi7mZhgUWl8Lnn9vjpH7VdgfMKND1IfE/s320/IMG_4611.JPG" width="213" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
That small art print just wasn't cutting it so it was time for some COLOR- I wanted to make some bright and cheery art for Kate. I took the <a href="http://lifeofa20somethingwife.blogspot.com/2011/04/office-paintings.html" target="_blank">two large canvases</a> that were hanging in the <a href="http://lifeofa20somethingwife.blogspot.com/2011/11/some-may-call-it-nesting.html" target="_blank">guestroom</a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh1kE_1NHpUvO600VzRbbIfCUwrRu4TMLTFXyvjEhS1RZAM2WWKlopVGocRQPcKbvCX07zgG4Czj8Zjg2h2V3KYGCGd4GmNnUM6w4HQbaQNbwPZJHWgdK2GyHj6TLoMENCjNTTxlUy5Iqc/s1600/IMG_4760.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh1kE_1NHpUvO600VzRbbIfCUwrRu4TMLTFXyvjEhS1RZAM2WWKlopVGocRQPcKbvCX07zgG4Czj8Zjg2h2V3KYGCGd4GmNnUM6w4HQbaQNbwPZJHWgdK2GyHj6TLoMENCjNTTxlUy5Iqc/s320/IMG_4760.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
And used leftover gloss paint from the basement bathroom to cover the dark blue pattern (I didn't have gesso, and it can be a bit expensive, so I just used what I had). It was nice and thick, and covered the pattern in one coat.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgOrPlOKKs15zFbWjM5qACgcFJtArQbaV1jwUA7TXz5Hpp2E3k4V2i_1LcC3BDoP7QhFAUbCZyNKGGt-T_x8WphqAYCyMGCQFYhfPehIV9z9PHBjTLS6xkvMdCNo-vrOAmGCJRAjpr6Qrc/s1600/IMG_4761.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgOrPlOKKs15zFbWjM5qACgcFJtArQbaV1jwUA7TXz5Hpp2E3k4V2i_1LcC3BDoP7QhFAUbCZyNKGGt-T_x8WphqAYCyMGCQFYhfPehIV9z9PHBjTLS6xkvMdCNo-vrOAmGCJRAjpr6Qrc/s320/IMG_4761.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
So with my fresh canvases I was ready to try my hand at some abstract art.<br />
<br />
I <a href="http://pinterest.com/dianastyborski/" target="_blank">pinned </a>this<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://blog.mrhandsomeface.com/content/diy-wall-art-bubbles/finished.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://blog.mrhandsomeface.com/content/diy-wall-art-bubbles/finished.png" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">From: <a href="http://blog.mrhandsomeface.com/diy-wall-art-bubbles" target="_blank">http://blog.mrhandsomeface.com/diy-wall-art-bubbles </a></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And knew it would be perfect for the playroom. Plus I already had everything I needed.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So with just some tissue paper, cut into circle of different sizes, I arranged them on the canvases and used modpodge to glue them down.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgh4ghXhgPCz4fFVMy3WWLQmjauQ9s7KtSW_6w20hqmE5JGhKlt4Z7KP-wlvLUP6FbtnXSLZ-nohqSd3WoFJqH5nB3oqgi4Jd4OafJX0qyMrt9qjwXiskSblWhlKWwt-VRjL01el-zMvow/s1600/2012-11-23+00.24.11.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgh4ghXhgPCz4fFVMy3WWLQmjauQ9s7KtSW_6w20hqmE5JGhKlt4Z7KP-wlvLUP6FbtnXSLZ-nohqSd3WoFJqH5nB3oqgi4Jd4OafJX0qyMrt9qjwXiskSblWhlKWwt-VRjL01el-zMvow/s320/2012-11-23+00.24.11.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Under 1 hour, free and easy, DIY playroom art. Can't beat it.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiKSKo7tR06w77TA5Yn0CiGeadMkIYfxjVa8Vyd1WJlA0oioDhCpC0Sw-A8zo337HN9uiPCeqt6ZtLUcn5fPuunap7ulVN_omtBM8XDPf793GNzRztCM2ojAe_E8rRLOAllIBxBDsiauoc/s1600/2012-11-23+00.23.54.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiKSKo7tR06w77TA5Yn0CiGeadMkIYfxjVa8Vyd1WJlA0oioDhCpC0Sw-A8zo337HN9uiPCeqt6ZtLUcn5fPuunap7ulVN_omtBM8XDPf793GNzRztCM2ojAe_E8rRLOAllIBxBDsiauoc/s320/2012-11-23+00.23.54.jpg" width="213" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Not sure what to put above the art. Maybe I'll just leave it as open space to hang Kate's drawings and things in the future.</div>

Yup. Kate's crawling now. Not very fast, not very far, but she's on the move. I guess baby gates will now become a permanent fixture in our house.<br />
<br />
To see Kate's 7 month pictures, check out <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/babystybs/sets/72157629756246674/" target="_blank">her flickr page</a>.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08009479798438832474noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3372833626238324510.post-73100856631337301332012-11-11T10:10:00.002-05:002012-11-11T10:10:44.565-05:00Kate's Playroom<br />
Kate is getting so close to crawling. I encourage her all the time but she just cant go forward. She needed some bigger play space to practice, and to help contain her toys, so we made a really inexpensive 'playroom' for her in the little corner of the basement. This was where my desk moved after we made the nursery and my office was reclaimed as a guest room. But since I don't really need an office, and I usually use the laptop while I sit on the couch, this was the perfect space for Kate.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgXaKXlcffIDhfFk7GFYwfH2V0EeZLotOooZftwO7tVyIFSlsQvrCObe_3VGHwUPhCIUiGwxItOun0Y2e8mEmrZwNz_RYtMh214DRxCF8lLn6draC7nSajhJUyrzXqcosbp2KjPFGbMKQA/s1600/IMG_4589.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgXaKXlcffIDhfFk7GFYwfH2V0EeZLotOooZftwO7tVyIFSlsQvrCObe_3VGHwUPhCIUiGwxItOun0Y2e8mEmrZwNz_RYtMh214DRxCF8lLn6draC7nSajhJUyrzXqcosbp2KjPFGbMKQA/s320/IMG_4589.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
We got <a href="http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/20101871/" target="_blank">this rug from Ikea</a> and a $5 door mirror from Target. The toys were hand-me-downs or gifts, and we already had the coffee table which will become her coloring/play table when she's able to stand.<br />
<br />
It's been great having this space for Kate to play, and not having to worry about cleaning everything up every day. Plus, it'll be able to grow with her and she plays with cars, trains, and blocks. I already have ideas for storing her barbies and other dolls when the time comes.<br />

I don't care for either major presidential candidate, and could easily get sucked into the whole 'my vote doesn't even count' thing. Even if the person I voted for doesn't win, my vote at least sends the message (to whatever computer system tallies the votes) that not everyone in Maryland is a democrat and votes for every democratic nominee on the ballot for every position.<br />
<br />
So whatever you believe, make sure you get out there and vote. If you do, you get a nice little sticker to show off.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash3/527407_821119682918_218300914_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash3/527407_821119682918_218300914_n.jpg" width="239" /></a></div>
<br />
And since Kate was so good, she got a sticker too.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08009479798438832474noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3372833626238324510.post-65040780639039318482012-10-23T21:03:00.002-04:002012-10-23T21:03:48.632-04:00Sheep? Llama? Pikachu?That was literally the text of the message I sent Adam.<br />
<br />
Why?<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-snc6/281422_814965226498_25610853_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-snc6/281422_814965226498_25610853_n.jpg" width="239" /></a></div>
Kate has a new, adorable sweatshirt from her aunt Andria.<br />
<br />
I think it is a sheep.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://encrypted-tbn3.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRqGrj6J94hQARBc2QJrrgsmVBY3X0ZlikTeIFFtx3Uqx67CMw6eg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://encrypted-tbn3.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRqGrj6J94hQARBc2QJrrgsmVBY3X0ZlikTeIFFtx3Uqx67CMw6eg" /></a></div>
<br />
Or maybe a llama.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://encrypted-tbn2.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRBaz6KrfXsbmu6WK-GrBFwFY1ouQ00t8h396-zAtEUU84a2PxD" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://encrypted-tbn2.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRBaz6KrfXsbmu6WK-GrBFwFY1ouQ00t8h396-zAtEUU84a2PxD" /></a></div>
<br />
But it reminded me of pikachu...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://encrypted-tbn2.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRTQAf28MyevJWfdonK6WUIvkTz6wQdKhUNFzGm94gvLnY7cyV5Rg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://encrypted-tbn2.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRTQAf28MyevJWfdonK6WUIvkTz6wQdKhUNFzGm94gvLnY7cyV5Rg" /></a></div>
<br />
Any other guesses?Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08009479798438832474noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3372833626238324510.post-67278172250797883802012-10-21T20:54:00.002-04:002012-10-21T20:55:54.964-04:00Shopping AroundI moved Kate into her convertible car seat this weekend. She still had a few inches and pounds to gain before outgrowing her infant carrier, but it was getting too heavy to actually carry Kate in it and I didn't want to have to rush to try and get the new seat installed. I'd rather be prepared.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhUzhJkGmXfM6obmNedD9Ij76HwTPH3j0tEJv2BI5sIetBuWFOffJr1EJFpldC2tB-r3ERvcTV4sLFS5DcXz37soXN_X1Rtkg-2fKzZJ01tanvo1N2OKbUzJ_ImDKdavP0kcK9mDxL7byc/s1600/WP_000272.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhUzhJkGmXfM6obmNedD9Ij76HwTPH3j0tEJv2BI5sIetBuWFOffJr1EJFpldC2tB-r3ERvcTV4sLFS5DcXz37soXN_X1Rtkg-2fKzZJ01tanvo1N2OKbUzJ_ImDKdavP0kcK9mDxL7byc/s320/WP_000272.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
I was planning on just leaving the infant seat in my mom's car for now, knowing I would probably have to buy her a convertible seat too. But on Saturday my dad and I went to a tot sale at his church and found a Britax Advocate CS for only $20! Still in great condition, and it retails for around $300. We couldn't pass up that deal. I know 'You're not supposed to buy used car seats' because 'you don't know if they have been in an accident before' but my mom only drives Kate around if she is going 5 minutes to the grocery store.<br />
<br />
So with the car seat situation fixed for mom, I installed the Graco seat I got at my baby shower into the Subaru. With the help of some rolled towels I got the seat installed and level. But this seat is significantly larger than the infant carrier, so the front passenger seat had to move up.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiGMBvmjc3YuFgsKFAFCmrXORbWlzKiBj4MWdH04_AJigaTEMzY51OIJ0hLcg3FSRWxDK1wPfwIFlgetf_JvLceEDUBxcEAV4zildbPtBLWM-H77Xf4UK_X0GazW0zNzHT-FLlMBa2W2AY/s1600/WP_000266.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiGMBvmjc3YuFgsKFAFCmrXORbWlzKiBj4MWdH04_AJigaTEMzY51OIJ0hLcg3FSRWxDK1wPfwIFlgetf_JvLceEDUBxcEAV4zildbPtBLWM-H77Xf4UK_X0GazW0zNzHT-FLlMBa2W2AY/s320/WP_000266.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I don;t know if you can tell, but the seat is up so far that when I sit down my knees touch the glove box. Not comfortable, and I don't think being that close to the air bag is very safe. For every day use, it won't be a problem. But when Adam and I need to go somewhere (or when any friends ride with me) I will be in the squished seat. I told Adam (he's working in Seattle this weekend) and he was sad. We got the Subaru because it would be the family car, and now there's no room (especially if we ever have baby #2).<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<br />
So that brings me to the internet- shopping around for a pre-owned mid sized SUV with low mileage, for a good price, and quality that will last. But most importantly it must fit the car seat and a passenger comfortably.<br />
<br />
Does anyone have any tips for car hunting?Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08009479798438832474noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3372833626238324510.post-22449178328240075582012-10-19T11:33:00.003-04:002012-10-19T11:35:40.696-04:006 MonthsHoly cow, where did the time go?<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhssGpNmgI4Z7tMEIY6945nmIX4HmE8FkYxYecrOUe_rq3eb3TRiUcqUBKF1dR858tkS7K7EzsOcOMA4cwsowV4r2nDo3Ckg_Z-rbkf44Dn-Pzh7TvepBKCk_GGAJnF61z5RCPYiqiCDIc/s1600/Kate+6+months.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhssGpNmgI4Z7tMEIY6945nmIX4HmE8FkYxYecrOUe_rq3eb3TRiUcqUBKF1dR858tkS7K7EzsOcOMA4cwsowV4r2nDo3Ckg_Z-rbkf44Dn-Pzh7TvepBKCk_GGAJnF61z5RCPYiqiCDIc/s320/Kate+6+months.jpg" width="255" /></a></div>
<br />
Kate is happily sitting and scooting now. She even lifts her tummy off the floor when she's playing. <br />
She's going to be crawling before we know it, and, while I'm excited for that milestone, I am not ready for her to grow up so fast.<br />
<br />
My big girl is now: 17 lbs 6.5 oz and 26.5" long. I'm going to have to switch her car seat out for the bigger convertible seat soon.<br />
<br />
She's still nursing morning and night, and she gets food and some formula during the day at my Mom's. She loves every kind of food we have given her, including those nasty peas... and she's even practicing her chewing with some sweet potato puffs. <br />
<br />
Some of her favorite things to do are: bouncing (in the bouncer or on you), playing with (and trying to eat) everything, and mickey Mouse Clubhouse (she shows no interest in Wonder Pets or Dora, but she squeals and 'talks' when MMC is on).<br />

<br />
6 months have passed since I had Kate, and I still cry when a story line on TV involves a birth- if it's natural I cry because I didn't get that, and if it's a c-section I cry because I didn't get to see Kate right away like the woman on tv, and if it's a complicated delivery I cry because I am so thankful I have a healthy baby who had no complications.<br />
<br />
Stupid hormones...<br />
<br />
Let's cheer things up with a pic of Kate:<br />

<br />
1. Kate. I probably goes without saying, but I love her beyond words. Even as she is teething (I think?) and
has decided to start waking up at 4:30 again, I love my happy, funny
baby.<br />
<br />
2.A day off of work in the middle of the week is such a gift. My school
district takes the major Jewish holidays off (Rosh Hashanah and Yom
Kippur) which, when combined with labor day and some other professional
days, makes going back to work in the fall totally bearable (hardly a 5
day work week in the month of September). I loved being able to sleep
in, if only until 7:00, and lounge eating breakfast and watching Hot Tub
Time Machine (totally stupid yet funny movie).<br />
<br />
3. As much as I miss being pregnant, I am so thankful I can enjoy my breakfast the way I like: runny eggs. And I actually had the time to cook them this morning.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhpG9mJ8GkPOFEmJlzftE0TZG80evtceNUvts1Ofsc1fmMQYOPHj8oFuYI3H_kydyw41fZ2H6SDeQu6uL2jXFXWRVORGVT3-5jEe-lMwSU9LLk5SxEOleCSw8R_9ADD8FVXGU2cVS3XsQg/s1600/DSCN0279.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhpG9mJ8GkPOFEmJlzftE0TZG80evtceNUvts1Ofsc1fmMQYOPHj8oFuYI3H_kydyw41fZ2H6SDeQu6uL2jXFXWRVORGVT3-5jEe-lMwSU9LLk5SxEOleCSw8R_9ADD8FVXGU2cVS3XsQg/s320/DSCN0279.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
4 & 5. Mom and my new school. I love that I can drop Kate at my mom's house and then drive 5 minutes to work. And I actually like the school, my team, and my students. There were a couple days where I was trying to think of any way possible I could work part time because I missed Kate so much- but she is in good hands and gets so excited to see me when I pick her up. And since she is with my mom, if she takes a longer nap or I have a late meeting, I don't have to worry about needing to pick her up 'on time' from a day care center. And Mondays work out perfectly- afternoon meeting, then hang out at mom's house until we head out for Monday night pizza at the same place we've been going to (with the same waitress every week) for over 10 (maybe 15) years.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08009479798438832474noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3372833626238324510.post-68744625524487451972012-09-18T17:23:00.004-04:002012-09-18T17:23:58.855-04:00I don't know how you do itAll you working, blogging, moms out there. I realized that I hadn't posted since before starting work again.<br />
<br />
A month ago.<br />
<br />
I just <strike>can't </strike>don't want to blog anymore. I drop Kate off, go to work, pick up Kate, play with Kate, make dinner, play some more, clean bottles and pump parts, prep anything for work, and if there is any time left in the day I can maybe take a shower.<br />
<br />
Seriously, how do you all do it?<br />
<br />
There are things to share: Kate's getting older, sitting, rolling, eating food; work is going great; we have been to the beach a couple more times... but I am only writing this now since I prepped dinner yesterday, Kate is napping, and I am pretty much set for work.<br />
<br />
So I guess my point in this random post is to say that my posting will probably be really sporadic and random from now on. Thanks for hanging with me.<br />
<br />
And so this post isn't completely boring, here are some recent pictures of Kate:<br />

<br />
Kate had her first experience with rice cereal this weekend. It was 1 Tbs of cereal mixed with 2 oz of milk; a little more than recommended but it was what I had ready, and I didn't want to waste any milk. It was basically the consistency of milk, it didn't seem thickened at all, but since it was her first time it needed to be pretty liquidy.<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash3/533225_787579986738_625063846_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash3/533225_787579986738_625063846_n.jpg" width="239" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">two spoons are better than one</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
A lot of the milk/cereal ended up on her pajamas, and it took 15+ minutes, but Kate seemed to enjoy eating from the spoon. At first she wasn't too sure, but by the end she was opening her mouth for the spoon and acting like I couldn't feed her fast enough (which was probably true, do you know how hard it is to move a spoon of milk through the flailing arms of an infant?).<br />
<br />
Overall it was a success. Happy baby = happy mommy.<br />

<br />
Adam and I <i>finally </i>cashed in our wedding gift certificate and took a cooking class on Saturday.<br />
As tempting at the 9:30 am cupcakes class was, We signed up for the afternoon Summer in Spain. We met some people, drank some wine, and cooked the most delicious roasted red pepper and tomato soup, paella, and custard. All from scratch. And the best part, by far, was getting to enjoy the food at the end.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash4/483954_787348844948_2008768746_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash4/483954_787348844948_2008768746_n.jpg" width="239" /></a></div>
It was amazing. So much food, yet we had non left :( Our five person cooking team was awesome. We were the first to finish every dish... we were also the first to finish eating everything.<br />
<br />
We took the class through <a href="http://www.lacademie.com/">L'Academie de Cuisine</a>. I highly recommend them. We had a great experience.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08009479798438832474noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3372833626238324510.post-76016711719166968402012-08-09T15:59:00.001-04:002012-08-09T15:59:28.748-04:004 Months<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
My four month maternity leave is coming to an end. I love that I had all summer with my baby girl, and really don't know how other moms do it- going back to work 6 weeks (or sooner!) after having a baby. It's going to be hard, but thankfully she loves my mom and does really well there during the day. I'll also be closer to her at my new school so I'll have more time in the morning and afternoon with her.<br />
<br />
Our big girl is now 15 lbs 3 oz. We'll be starting cereal soon and have already had her 'joining' us at dinner in her high chair with a spoon to play with. She's now 25 1/4 inches long- too long for 3 month one-pieces/sleepers, though she's not quite chubby enough for 6 months.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg8mp_VCBxrt0oS-PSEXKcRaCvbdPvivT4qgcbqpNH-viUaqAnulNfuttZAxd3ubhAd6Tsi_FxRq4MoNNLr-iFgCH2oQ8W_Ewc3zVJkc3yRG0fzfDwWPdLhWv_hdmnppFcg0ZCyFCzxuIY/s1600/4+months.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg8mp_VCBxrt0oS-PSEXKcRaCvbdPvivT4qgcbqpNH-viUaqAnulNfuttZAxd3ubhAd6Tsi_FxRq4MoNNLr-iFgCH2oQ8W_Ewc3zVJkc3yRG0fzfDwWPdLhWv_hdmnppFcg0ZCyFCzxuIY/s320/4+months.jpg" width="235" /></a></div>
<br />
Highlights:<br />
She has rolled over a couple times from her tummy, and a few more from her back. She is also is holding her head up/ pushing her self up when she is on her tummy. She'll scoot around, too, so I'm sure she'll be crawling before we know it. <br />
When she babbles, she likes to say 'ah-goo ah-goo' and I respond by singing "I am the Walrus" by the Beatles (goo goo ca choo). She has also taken to shrieking. Whether she is excited, playing with her toys, or just babbling she gets an ascending, really high pitched 'ahh'. It's cute, for now.<br />
<br />
<i>You may have noticed I didn't post a 3 months post, I'm only posting for the months we have Dr's appointments so I can update stats and milestones. But I am taking a picture every month- I'm keeping her monthly photos on <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/babystybs/sets/72157629756246674/">Flickr</a>.</i>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08009479798438832474noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3372833626238324510.post-44875187477348802142012-08-08T12:39:00.004-04:002012-08-08T12:39:45.194-04:00Beach BabyI love that I have the summers off. I love going to the beach. What I love even more is that my parents have a condo at the beach. I have taken Kate down a few times already and look forward to many more trips. She is OK at the beach, on the sand and near the water. <br />

<br />Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08009479798438832474noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3372833626238324510.post-82602905528176370212012-07-31T11:16:00.003-04:002012-07-31T11:19:36.593-04:00Kate's Name ArtI love painting names for babies' nurseries. I made them for my niece, nephew, and coworker's son. When it came time to make one for my own child I was stumped. I couldn't make it before Kate was born because we didn't know that she would be a she (and in all honesty- had I made it while I was pregnant I would have made "Alec". Yup we thought she was a boy.)<br />
So after seeing something pretty simple on pinterest, I painted 4 canvases in yellow and green stripes. It would serve as the backdrop for either Alec or Kate. They turned out pretty well too; I was very happy with them.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEig5syZgiblWWfe2S4ZBS8h2Ilyv5GKYnE3gHlQTTecoINDCaE5yt_8_gGtbXGL21UeS8YwhI5ixa4-o11yIHCanFIaD6Bx4gQGROs8SASfr4fEB1WPHIao2HFnALRurjT6TRD7AaW15HQ/s1600/DSCN0258.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEig5syZgiblWWfe2S4ZBS8h2Ilyv5GKYnE3gHlQTTecoINDCaE5yt_8_gGtbXGL21UeS8YwhI5ixa4-o11yIHCanFIaD6Bx4gQGROs8SASfr4fEB1WPHIao2HFnALRurjT6TRD7AaW15HQ/s320/DSCN0258.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
Then Kate was born and I finally added her name to the canvases. The letters were white and didn't stand out that much, so I went for a deep pink/red. Kate loves the high contrast and will stare at the letters, but I wasn't happy. They didn't look like I wanted. I am a perfectionist in a lot of ways, and her name just looked sloppy.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiq8BpSOAp-IlcN8VPeux5GIXN4pMJsVkDCdNOsWpCbFb_zwEpi6q4iK4NLAH7Dkd0-t_eawlASFf26ll2Jw5ettEnK9TvnNY1YhLoF80n-jOfG1a1MBYPKC15faHsCRWNhJOmxwXN5JKY/s1600/2012-07-15+20.21.43.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiq8BpSOAp-IlcN8VPeux5GIXN4pMJsVkDCdNOsWpCbFb_zwEpi6q4iK4NLAH7Dkd0-t_eawlASFf26ll2Jw5ettEnK9TvnNY1YhLoF80n-jOfG1a1MBYPKC15faHsCRWNhJOmxwXN5JKY/s320/2012-07-15+20.21.43.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
So the weekend she was turning 3 months I finally figured out how I was going to fix it. I was reading her the book "Eric Carle's ABC" and thought how cute it would be to have the letters and picture of the animal to spell out Kate's name. So I scanned the pages (if I had another copy I would just cut the
letters out of the book) and Adam cropped them and printed them on
cardstock.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFZGkGoEeFJt8wCzIWRrEGOY-tzqyjjxN65hyphenhyphenwTfIYO3esK83oMxhXls52LzAsoq2GubCq-10VHCKRqgXVyrBcbChAFoq7AgsQrM-xHM5rwd4HGc6UnLsY8SVyGFV1ep3VlamnDuMQSbM/s1600/2012-07-13+19.59.12.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFZGkGoEeFJt8wCzIWRrEGOY-tzqyjjxN65hyphenhyphenwTfIYO3esK83oMxhXls52LzAsoq2GubCq-10VHCKRqgXVyrBcbChAFoq7AgsQrM-xHM5rwd4HGc6UnLsY8SVyGFV1ep3VlamnDuMQSbM/s320/2012-07-13+19.59.12.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
But when I started to mod podge the letter to the canvas board the ink started to smear. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiX5_ul0qMr-z5KviLmTPNC8rVsLSNQGLXKFfxjfS6JhRMWVN8ocsoRxtZk4jHgK677k86qfaPW6kLSBrP4S4mkCWCr6QXXBQnCMUcwXhVGHO-9xTa2vg48aOCGWH-vCqKVLMzkfqILRt8/s1600/2012-07-16+20.30.26.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiX5_ul0qMr-z5KviLmTPNC8rVsLSNQGLXKFfxjfS6JhRMWVN8ocsoRxtZk4jHgK677k86qfaPW6kLSBrP4S4mkCWCr6QXXBQnCMUcwXhVGHO-9xTa2vg48aOCGWH-vCqKVLMzkfqILRt8/s320/2012-07-16+20.30.26.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I also realized the white background on the white canvas wasn't doing it for me. So I sprayed the letters with a clear coat sealer, and painted the canvas boards in the colors of the letters- Eric Carle style.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg-nHo1AEHzLcTtfjzLRutH8O_7wAMpbWh6yuYlprk0u06LrqUB2asXWYPn72vRosA2S2PNV3jqzZCdvyRIiubjVXw6dh5VlNVFgaro8woK1-p4vDV1lvHYe36oB3gIgnY5jbGAluMTbFw/s1600/2012-07-18+20.52.16.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg-nHo1AEHzLcTtfjzLRutH8O_7wAMpbWh6yuYlprk0u06LrqUB2asXWYPn72vRosA2S2PNV3jqzZCdvyRIiubjVXw6dh5VlNVFgaro8woK1-p4vDV1lvHYe36oB3gIgnY5jbGAluMTbFw/s320/2012-07-18+20.52.16.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So after <i>Finally </i>finishing this should-have-been-quick project Kate has a cute and animal/artsy name piece.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7UjFaNgTmKM6I4377z_hARlUYsgAsdm_ftd8k0rLA7_ZIsLHU8G-JrHx7PaXDOhmvpwV_eIEgSTRUA-1GvYWP2jRsSpUhGwhckcqCZLYcyldLxzJ9XI6sJzcHOa5gHsaayHeg63hctE0/s1600/2012-07-30+23.02.21.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7UjFaNgTmKM6I4377z_hARlUYsgAsdm_ftd8k0rLA7_ZIsLHU8G-JrHx7PaXDOhmvpwV_eIEgSTRUA-1GvYWP2jRsSpUhGwhckcqCZLYcyldLxzJ9XI6sJzcHOa5gHsaayHeg63hctE0/s320/2012-07-30+23.02.21.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
I hope she likes looking at these letters and animals as much as she liked the high contrast pink on yellow.<br />

<br />
Adam and I are trying to get in better shape (I just cant drop those last 10 lbs) and figured working out together would keep us accountable and motivate us to do our best. So we ordered P90x. My dad has done it. My sister and brother in law have done it. Friends and coworkers have done it. We started it. <b>OMG </b>it is <b><i>intense</i></b>.<br />
<br />
Because of Adam's work schedule and Kate's feeding schedule, we agreed to workout at night after Kate went to bed. So that meant a 90 minute workout starting around 9pm. Neither of use realized just HOW out of shape we were. We only did half of day 1's push-up/ pull-up set, and struggled through the ab-ripper set. We completed Plyometrics but Adam's shoulders were too sore to do the arms and back, and we only did 30 minutes of yoga. It is important to know when to stop and not over do it (especially in week1) so we are comfortable stopping half-way. <br />
<br />
And to keep it real- here are our before pictures (take on day 4)<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

We have a long way to go, and definitely need to build up our endurance and strength.<br />
<br />
Have you done P90x?Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08009479798438832474noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3372833626238324510.post-53718218692949309632012-07-16T07:34:00.001-04:002012-07-16T07:34:33.992-04:00Learning How to be a Better TeacherEven though I have completed my Master's degree, and was recently re-certified with my Advanced Professional Certificate, I am still taking classes. Well one class anyway.<br />
<br />
A few of my old teammates and I all signed up for this class together so we could better keep in touch over the summer and beginning of the school year. Since all 4 of us will be teaching at different schools this year, that was my primary reason for singing up.<br />
<br />
I am currently in the middle of "<a href="http://www.rbteach.com/rbteach2/Skillful_Teaching.html">Studying Skillful Teaching</a>' which is helping me re-examine my teaching practices, planning, and beliefs. I had heard it was a horrendous class ans was super hard, but I am actually enjoying it. Our instructor is great, and that truly makes the difference of 'participating because I have to' and 'wanting to go, learn, and participate'.<br />
<br />
<br />
Also, this was my test run for leaving Kate with my mom while I went to work. I dropped her off around 7 and was on my way by 7:30. It was hard leaving her the first day and I thought she was in the car with me (but was so quiet she must have fallen asleep) on the second day. She also drank all the milk I left for her and needed the emergency formula on the second day. Overall she was happy, ate and napped well, and I actually liked getting out of the house and doing something work related for a few hours. I'm still going to enjoy my summer with Kate, but maybe going back to work won't be so bad after all.<br />

Just a little get together of about 50+ family and friends to pick crabs, drink beer, and have a good time. Adam declared this year to be the 'Babypocalypse' because of the large number of babies that would be coming- I think we had 8 or 9, all but 1 under the age of 4 (and really, my 3 1/2 year old niece is such a peanut she looks like she is 2).<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

With all the babies I decided we would NEED a baby pool. Last year was so hot, I couldn't imagine having all those babies in the heat/sun all day or forcing them inside. So luckily <a href="http://homefor3.blogspot.com/">Jen </a>brought her baby pool AND water table.<br />

Both were a big hit with the older kids (those under 3 months didn't seem too interested- go figure).<br />

I, again, didn't get too many pictures during the day. Too many people to see, too much time spent feeding Kate inside, and too much Old Bay on my fingers that prevented me from taking more pics.<br />
<br />
Kate did have an adorable Crab onesie to wear courtesy of our friends Shawn and Erica (who also had their little girl Ruby in a crab outfit that day).<br />

We meant to get a picture of the two girls in their crab clothes but it wasn't until Ruby was strapped in the car seat and they were getting ready to go that I remembered. Oh well, we will see them again (hopefully soon).<br />
<br />
It was a great day and I'm already looking forward to next year when Kate will get her first shot at picking crabs!<br />

For mother's day I got flowers and a pint of ice cream (a few days early- the flowers died before mother's day and there was something wrong with the ice cream- like it melted then re-froze before I even peeled off the plastic liner under the lid). So I knew Adam wasn't going to expect anything really big or expensive. I was going to make a shutterfly book since i had a free promo code- but I don't have enough pictures to make it worth it- maybe next year)<br />
I finally decided on something that had been floating around pinterest for a while.<br />
<br />
A Salt-Dough keepsake of Kate's foot. <br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhJ-uwbtBMdelchebSloetlQdMUr4zpzP-D_zO94-5t8DObKlhAwS6kA4yzh6_3qoq2O_ZrY5nGpkcqcFZDdFsBtNpS5koDLHzq-qL4YLqpURPT2PVEfpfpfeXpDE85E6yqrTb2tB0xvk4U/s640/IMG_8287.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhJ-uwbtBMdelchebSloetlQdMUr4zpzP-D_zO94-5t8DObKlhAwS6kA4yzh6_3qoq2O_ZrY5nGpkcqcFZDdFsBtNpS5koDLHzq-qL4YLqpURPT2PVEfpfpfeXpDE85E6yqrTb2tB0xvk4U/s320/IMG_8287.jpg" width="213" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">*not Kate's foot*</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
I had heard of salt dough ornaments before, but never tried to make any. The recipe is from <a href="http://www.theimaginationtree.com/2011/06/salt-dough-footprint-keepsakes.html">here</a>, though I needed to add more water.<br />
<br />
I wanted to make an impression of her hand, but being 2 months old Kate's hand is basically in a permanent fist. So I went with her foot. Which was much harder to do than I thought. Push too hard- squished blobby toes that look like she is swollen (or has hobbit feet). Push lightly- no clear impression.<br />
When I finally got it right, I put it into the toaster oven. I found out my toaster oven will only cook for 2hrs at a time, so I needed to go back and add another hour to the baking time.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWAayG9kJNHIONXa3RqjFOF7ODhQYPQ-fU6NWPgAiT4DY-swZSwfFx0ZunvGf8zPyeJ0Ur10t52DjrVH_7fEtN3CzGWKUete9CCND6LcBozR3bCI8W5Xh_vnflkl9qlMju_EqRR3Uz4IU/s1600/June+053.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWAayG9kJNHIONXa3RqjFOF7ODhQYPQ-fU6NWPgAiT4DY-swZSwfFx0ZunvGf8zPyeJ0Ur10t52DjrVH_7fEtN3CzGWKUete9CCND6LcBozR3bCI8W5Xh_vnflkl9qlMju_EqRR3Uz4IU/s320/June+053.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
I painted the inside and added her name and the year. Adam declared it 'cute' and can take it into work.<br />
<br />
We spent the day at my parents' and Kate did pretty well with her naps.
My only request was to have a picture taken of us all together. <br />
<br />

Happy Father's Day!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08009479798438832474noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3372833626238324510.post-50087446743236759582012-06-16T13:09:00.002-04:002012-06-16T13:09:59.970-04:001st Grade- in BoxesTuesday was the last day of school. I was planning to go in for the end of year luncheon, say goodbye to my coworkers, and begin to pack up my classroom. The plan was to start packing up Tuesday afternoon, continue on Wednesday (the professional day) and then recruit family members to help me remove everything on Saturday.<br />
<br />
Well, Tuesday I read an e-mail that says <i>Reminder, because of summer cleaning the third floor will be unavailable after Wednesday</i>. If I didn't get my stuff out by Wednesday it would be stuck until August. I was in shock, and upset. There was no first e-mail, so I don't know how this counts as a reminder. So the plan quickly became <i>who can help me get all my s*** out on Wednesday?</i> Thanks to my dad everything was boxed up by 10:30am. And thanks to two friends (who were able to check out of their school that morning) and two co-workers (who watched Kate as we used the elevator to move everything) all the boxes were in my mom's CR-V and my friend's CR-V by 1:00.<br />
<br />
Everything came home- since <a href="http://lifeofa20somethingwife.blogspot.com/2012/06/peek-into-future.html">my school will be moving to a holding school in December</a>, I didn't want to take everything and then move it again in a few months.<br />
<br />
Then it came time to find a place to store everything.<br />
<br />
Luckily, Kate doesn't have too much so we were able to commandeer her closet.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<br />
Everything else went to the basement.<br />

I will need to go through all my books and activity books to figure out what will come with me in the fall, and what can stay behind until the spring. But I am ready (in theory) to start the new year. I already have tons of ideas, and lots of things to print from pinterest.<br />

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgezYS9E8xACiMDlBfyNpdUcf3xlJ44nR5ewktYojUG4e4u0YlSR_wEKG-_8-DpwjN-jrx5Lop5yPNbXJ_FaNDcdtFDOPvd-tMSG4sQkweUI45CLhJniJQXRY2piFDpASawUH9n8rIuwyE/s1600/2+months+046.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgezYS9E8xACiMDlBfyNpdUcf3xlJ44nR5ewktYojUG4e4u0YlSR_wEKG-_8-DpwjN-jrx5Lop5yPNbXJ_FaNDcdtFDOPvd-tMSG4sQkweUI45CLhJniJQXRY2piFDpASawUH9n8rIuwyE/s320/2+months+046.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />My big girl is now12 lbs 3 oz and 23 1/4 " long.<br />
<br />
Highlight of the month: more cooing and babbling. It's so cute to watch her 'talk' to me, my family, and her toys. She's also <i>almost </i>rolling over. She's gotten as far as one arm and both legs over, but her other arm got stuck. Adam gives her 2-3 more weeks before she is fully rolling over.<br />
<br />
We've also just started a <i>sort of</i> sleep training. I couldn't take her 20 minute naps and wanting to eat every 2 hrs. So I've been watching for her sleepy cues- which are usually about an hour-1.5 hours after she wakes up. I guess I didn't realize<b> how much</b> babies sleep. So far we have been able to get her to nap for an hour (on average) and she's eating every 2-3 hours. She's not sleeping through the night consistently yet, but she has stretched out her nighttime feedings (and dropped one) so I only have to get up once in the middle of the night/early morning.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiAgIITsT_kpDPQjDG-rsBdDsL_KvVGzLBbS8kIjpTvElB6buaefZ_MYwySi_QTXPN2m-BWPdn82drct2fG68-2yRksMOzaduYdecE6R-wwLhge8EWyOsAUk-O4jgDb9gMKJatlNS0P-Ps/s1600/2+months+069.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiAgIITsT_kpDPQjDG-rsBdDsL_KvVGzLBbS8kIjpTvElB6buaefZ_MYwySi_QTXPN2m-BWPdn82drct2fG68-2yRksMOzaduYdecE6R-wwLhge8EWyOsAUk-O4jgDb9gMKJatlNS0P-Ps/s320/2+months+069.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
I can't believe that if I had her at a different point in the school
year I would already be back to work. She's still so little, how would I
leave her all day? I'm really lucky that she came at the perfect time
of the year.<br />
<br />
<br />
Oh baby girl, you're getting so big.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08009479798438832474noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3372833626238324510.post-84254349363602433752012-06-08T17:32:00.001-04:002012-06-08T17:32:15.095-04:00A Peek into the FutureNext year I will be teaching at a new school. It is extremely close to my mom's house and, since she will be watching Kate in the fall, was the perfect choice. I interviewed at two schools and ultimately chose this one because of its location and similarity to my current school.<br />
<br />
I stopped by today to take a look at my new room.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh1WAJGXeziqXbdsxxKLotit2h0b_agAq3d4tIYfyKbs-ctF8ZKZno4U9KMnIMqoeqRTDMg4k3WSPMpFdV50_1OGcZKIZH2CPEiInfYNFDQuN-j57-8l-RX6hMO9YJ66yB04rz0Sv4CGcY/s1600/bel+pre.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh1WAJGXeziqXbdsxxKLotit2h0b_agAq3d4tIYfyKbs-ctF8ZKZno4U9KMnIMqoeqRTDMg4k3WSPMpFdV50_1OGcZKIZH2CPEiInfYNFDQuN-j57-8l-RX6hMO9YJ66yB04rz0Sv4CGcY/s320/bel+pre.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
A mess. But it is the end of the year and I will be able to completely gut/change the room in the fall. Anyways, it will only be my room for the first half of the year. The school is going to be torn down/rebuild in December and I will be in a holding school for the rest of the year and for the following school year as well.<br />
<br />
Lots and lots of changes coming. It's a little scary. It's a lot exciting. Now to scour pinterest and get ideas for the fall!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08009479798438832474noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3372833626238324510.post-23224154671389749862012-05-30T09:51:00.001-04:002012-05-30T09:51:56.363-04:00Work ItI had my post-partum checkup last Wednesday and things were looking good. I lost 20 of the 30lbs I gained throughout the pregnancy and was cleared to resume working out. <br />
<br />
I have been taking Kate for walks around the neighborhood, sometimes with another mom and baby (girl who is only 1 week younger than Kate) who live in the neighborhood. Breastfeeding burns calories and pushing a stroller uphill can get pretty intense sometimes, but I'm hoping to step up my 'workouts'. I don't know when that is going to happen, though, since whenever Kate is sleeping I am trying to get some sleep, clean up the house, or shower (or maybe update this little blog).<br />
