Been Thinking...

I've been thinking a lot about what I want to get out of blogging. The blogs I love reading and following are all focused on something specific (DIY, Fashion, Painting, etc...). I write all over the place- from working out to updating my home to other randomness. I am thinking I should find a focus for my blog, make it something with a purpose (like documenting a big transformation, or a new addition) but I don't think I have anything specific to focus on. Then I think about the other bloggers who have a topic for each day of the week (here, here, and here). That would be an easy way to talk about all the different things happening in my life, but I feel it might just become monotonous. Would I be scrounging to find something to write about for each "wonderful wednesday" (or other labeled day)?

I don't want to try to be something I am not. I don't want to force myself to write. But I also like sharing what I'm doing and enjoy blogging regularly. But there are also changes going on in my life (currently and in the near future) that I will need to consider also.

I guess what I should try to do is take some more time to think about all of this and find my focus. I've even been searching through other blogs for tips and they all say the same thing- find your niche. So I may be taking some time away from this blog to figure out how to narrow down my interests/ topics/ and find my focus. It may take a lot of time, and I am OK with that.

  1. I have the exact same thoughts. Recently I wrote a post very similar to this (but I didn't publish it) and I know exactly how you feel. I finally decided that my blog is "my own little corner of the internet" and that means I can do whatever I want with it. I see the "find your niche" thing all the time too - but I also see plenty of bloggers who post about their life in general. I say just have fun with it - whatever you decide to do. There is no formula. Good luck!

  3. Thanks for your thoughts, Kate. I think I just needed to figure out what I want to write about and the more I think about it the more I realize that I should probably just keep on doing what I'm doing. I have too many interests to dedicate my blog to just one of them.

And yes, Grover is the most adorable cat around :)
