Spring is Coming

The weather warmed up on Sunday and it was so nice to be able to get the windows open and have some light and fresh air in the house.
Grover greatly appreciated the windows being opened too. He loves staring out at the birds are squirrels.

 Since hanging the blinds, Grover has missed out on sitting on his favorite spot on the back of the couch to stare out the window. He hasn't figured out how to get between the two blinds.. yet..
Speaking of having the blinds open, they look so much nicer open.

But I can't keep them open all the time, then we would have zero privacy. I'll just open them up when the weather is good.
I can't wait for spring to finally get here for good!

Ice Ice Baby

We had a 2 hr delay yesterday because of the layer of ice from the freezing rain overnight. The weather is looking a little iffy tomorrow too, we'll see what happens.

I think Grover liked the icy weather, I caught him staring out the office window in the morning.

 

I don't know what he was staring at, maybe a bird?

 

Hopefully the weather won't be too bad, I don't want any more snow days- we'd end up adding days to the end of the year! That would be horrible!

Ahhh...

...we got a 2 hr delay today. After not getting out of school early, they gave in and gave us a little time off because of the snow.
What this means for my class is they come in at 10:30 and we immediately go to eat lunch at 10:45, then they come back for indoor recess (which I think I have to cover), and then rest. After getting up from their rest break we go to PE and Music, come back for math (which actually might be literacy) have snack and go home.
Not much we can do today.
But I'm thankful for my extra 1 1/2 hr of sleep.

Big Tree

I love the big tree in our front yard. Especially this time of year. The leaves turn bright red and it is one of the only trees on our street that still has leaves on it. The bad part about having a huge tree? When there is a storm and you wake up in the morning to this:

There are so many leaves you cannot see the sidewalk. And they were wet from rain so they were pretty slick and didn't blow away.

Another Summer Storm?

I was freaking out a little from the loud crack of thunder and then again when I heard chunks of hail hitting the window. Then I was mad to find out back door leaks (which we didn't notice because of the door mat that soaked up the water) and realizing that we will need to save up for some new gutters within the next couple years.
We only lost power for a split second but I am prepared this time- candles and lighter are ready! I hope that being prepared means we won't lose power!
The rain seems to be slowing now but weather.com says scattered thunderstorms all day, tonight, and tomorrow... We'll see...

Summer Storm

We have been having extremely hot weather for the past month or so. Well with a cold front coming in, there was bound to be a big storm. I guess I didn't think about HOW big of a storm it would be. We were on our way home from the beach, Adam called and said there was a massive thunderstorm with a lot of wind. We knew we would have to drive through it eventually. Luckily we were over the bay bridge before we hit any bad weather. I think we had just driven past Annapolis when I saw the swirling wind. The temperature was 101, and after 15 minutes of driving in rain where we couldn't see 20 feet in front of us, the temp dropped to 75. Luckily we made it home (the beltway was blocked at Connecticut ave because of fallen trees so we bailed on New Hampshire and fought our way through intersections without stoplights) and My parents' house was ok. They still had power, we did not. Adam came over and we spent the night here.

Thankfully we are all ok, our houses are fine, I just wish my house had power...
